Next ONE DAY Workshop: "Start the Year Strong" Saturday - Jan 24 9 AM PST
One of my favorite things about travel is trying new food, discovering ingredients I never knew existed, experiencing local restaurants, and collecting recipes of the most iconic dishes.
Here are some of my favorites. I'll be adding more as I find them.

SOUR CREAM CHERRY CHEESECAKE, US
This is one of the favorite desserts in our home. It's light and delicious and tastes even better the day after it's made.

CHANIA STYLE BOUGASTA, CRETE
As you can see from the pages in my Mejo, I recorded my favorite dish from our trip to Crete, and oh my gosh it was so delicious I will go back to the island just to eat it again.

THE. BEST. SHRIMP & GRITS, NEW ORLEANS, US
Brittany sat next to me on a plane ride to New Orleans and invited me to visit her bistro during my visit. I'm so glad I did! Nothing could check the boxes better as comfort food than her creamy Shrimp & Grits. It was one of the best meals I've ever had.

TOLL HOUSE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, US
There's nothing more satisfying or classically American than a freshly baked Chocolate Chip Cookie. I'll bet there is always a batch baking in some home in the USA.
To read the recipe, learn the origin of this yummy treat, and find out how to cook them at high altitude or on a stovetop instead of an oven, click on the photo.

TRADITIONAL NEWARI MEAL, BHAKTAPUR, NEPAL
One of the delightful surprises of travel is being introduced to dishes that are unlike anything you've ever tasted before. This is what Newari food was for me. The combination of flavors and textures (like crunchy flattened dry rice!) was so interesting.
This meal consisted of boiled peanuts, black-eyed peas, a lentil pancake, spicy Choila (made with mush
COFFEE & BVLGARI CHOCOLATE, DUBAI
Sometimes it's really fun to splurge and stay at an elegant place when you're traveling. And what could be more fancy than being served a handmade Bvlgari chocolate with your morning coffee?
The Bvlgari Resort Dubai makes their chocolate on-site. It is as decadent as it looks.
