In 2023 I visited a community of women in Bwindi, Uganda, who are supporting their families and providing over 40 gallons of clean water to their community every day through their collective work. This safe and supportive space empowers and supports local women struggling with poverty, HIV, and domestic violence to learn a profession, create strong bonds, educate their children, stay safe, and earn a salary. I was so inspired by their program that I took my son with me when I returned to visit a second time to bring them Solight solar lanterns. Wyatt was equally moved by founder Evelyne Habassa's vision, and wanted to support her work at Ride 4 A Woman through his art.
Wyatt's portraits of the women at work can be purchased at Ride 4 a Woman's gift store in Bwindi, or through this website in the USA.
In this series of four digital paintings Wyatt portrays individual women at work, celebrating their strength, patience, and joy. He chose a color palate inspired by the natural colors found in the fibers of the pieces the women weave.
100% of the proceeds from sales of this art supports R4W
Wyatt is a Los Angeles based illustrator currently finishing his senior year at the Rhode Island School of Design. With a foundation in traditional media, he works in all mediums, including oil paint, gouache, charcoal, ink, clay, and photography, and aims to bring the feel of tangible media to his digital work.
With a background in supporting conservation organizations through his art, it was only natural that Wyatt was moved to support Ride 4 a Women's projects through his art by making pieces for them to sell in their store in Bwindi to further their work.
