As an international public speaker, Timathea has addressed a variety of topics from the practical (how to travel at any age, how to use journaling to get the most out of a trip,) to the more personal (what she learned from stepping outside of her comfort zone, and the places that have most impacted her life) to the more newsworthy (how to travel sustainably).
She loves inspiring others with stories from her adventures and encourages people to step out of their comfort zones, discover more of themselves, and explore the world with a deeper purpose.

A solo journey on wheels offers freedom, adventure, and a chance to embrace solitude. Timathea, a seasoned road tripper and avid van lover, shares her adventures of exploring roads less traveled. She answers the most common questions people have about vanlife, particularly how to travel safely as a solo woman, and covers topics that range from practical logistics, safety, and working on the road, to emotional and mental health. Some examples are: What’s the difference between camping in a tent, a car, an RV, a van, or a trailer? How do you find a place to camp/park? (in the city, suburbs, state parks, campgrounds, BLM land, and with private hosts?) How do you stay safe when traveling solo?
Travel is so much more than moving from place to place. It not only broadens our horizons and nourishes our souls, but teaches us skills we can apply to shape our lives long after our journey ends. The experiences we encounter along the way are the catalysts for our evolution as individuals and the more adept we are are delving into the essence of our adventures the more profound the connections between our travel experiences and life will be. In this talk on deep and thoughtful travel, Timathea explains how approaching travel mindfully can serve as a transformative force for personal growth.
Through a series of travel stories, analogies, and hands-on activities (journal writing, breathing and grounding exercises,) Timathea teaches attendees how to use mindfulness practices during their travels to take their travel deeper and shows how small changes can make enrich their lives in a big way.
Timathea shows how exploring the world mindfully helps travelers discover themselves so they can confidently answer poet Mary Oliver’s profound question: Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
Live in the world fully, don’t just exist in it. Look at it. Listen to it. Take Chances. Take the life you fell into and make it your own. Take it where you can get the most out of it.
Providing solar lanterns to communities and individuals who lack access to electricity is transformative not only for the recipient, but also for the traveler.
In this inspiring talk Timathea shares her experiences handing out solar lanterns to people around the world who live without access to electricity and how she is supporting other travelers and organizations who are interested in doing the same type of humanitarian work. These lanterns improve lives by providing clean light (replacing toxic fumes from wood smoke and kerosene,) enhanced safety (particularly for women and children who are often assaulted on their way to latrines,) a support for education, and overall quality of life improvement. She highlights the important role of travelers in distributing these lanterns as gifts to a variety of places around the world (villages, orphanages, hospitals, schools, animal sanctuaries, refugee camps, and areas hit by natural and human disaster.
Travel is better when you leave light, not just footprints.
Teri Murrison is a wonderful interviewer and a terrific, thoughtful, writer. We had so much fun talking about life, travel, building our own metaphorical boats, and making sure we don't miss opportunities to live our lives fully.
